Mama DeBarge

I was born in Youngstown, Ohio and at age of five my family relocated to St. Louis, MO.  I now have two adult sons ages 30 & 40 and four grandchildren.  In the 70s-80s, I was a local musician & singer and played with bands for many years.  I recorded a few singles.  I also write songs and poetry.  I am a published author.  My book "The Singer" was published in 2007.  I have returned to college to obtain a degree which I had put off for many years to raise my family and do music.  Right now I'm aiming for technology or communication degree.  I still sing and play...mostly for weddings and funeral.  I have also given a few talent shows for my community.  More information on me can be found on www.myspace.com/valerieewilson.  God has also been good to me.  In 1993 I was diagnosed with breast cancer...I'm still here to see my grandchildren.  Family is so important and a blessing.
